A devastating two-vehicle crash that occurred last week in Charles Mix County, South Dakota, has resulted in the tragic loss of a Wagner woman. The incident, which took place just before 5:30 p.m. on May 3, unfolded two miles east of Wagner and has left the community in mourning.
According to reports from the Department of Public Safety, the fatal collision involved a 2012 Dodge Ram and a 2013 Ford Edge, both travelling east on SD Highway 46. The driver of the Ford Edge, identified as 89-year-old Elaine Schroeder of Wagner, slowed down to make a turn into a driveway when the driver of the Dodge Ram failed to notice the stationary vehicle and collided with the rear of the Ford.
Sadly, the impact of the crash proved fatal for Elaine Schroeder, who succumbed to her injuries at the scene. Our thoughts and prayers are with her family and loved ones during this difficult time.
The driver of the Dodge Ram, identified as 24-year-old Emily Boeke from Hubbard, Iowa, sustained minor injuries in the collision. The South Dakota Highway Patrol is currently conducting an investigation into the circumstances surrounding the tragic incident to determine any contributing factors.
