Accident – Death – Obituary News : A suspect has been apprehended in connection to the abduction of a 10-month-old baby girl in New Mexico, as authorities continue to investigate the tragic deaths of the girl’s mother and another woman, as well as the injuries sustained by her sister. Alek Isaiah Collins, a 26-year-old man from Houston, Texas, was taken into custody in connection to the deaths of two women, the injuries to a child, and the abduction of the infant, Deputy Chief Trevor Thorn of the Clovis Police Department announced at a press conference on Monday afternoon.
Collins was arrested in Abilene, Texas, where the FBI and local law enforcement had him in custody. The baby girl was rescued at the same location where Collins was apprehended. Thorn stated that the infant is currently receiving medical care at a hospital, but no additional injuries have been reported at this time.
Despite the arrest, Thorn mentioned that there is no apparent connection between Collins and the baby girl, her older sister, her late mother, or the other woman who was found deceased at the scene on Friday. The authorities are actively pursuing leads in the case and have yet to determine a motive for what Thorn described as a “heinous crime.”
Quentin Ray, the Ninth Judicial District Attorney, confirmed that Collins will face charges of two counts of first-degree murder, a first-degree kidnapping charge, as well as two counts of child abuse. Ray emphasized the importance of holding Collins accountable for his actions.
Raul Bujanda, from the FBI, expressed a mix of relief and sorrow over the developments in the case. He highlighted the importance of the baby girl’s safe recovery but also acknowledged the tragic loss of life that occurred. The girl’s identity is being protected as she is a minor who has now been located.
The search for the baby girl was initiated after her mother was discovered deceased in a park in Clovis, New Mexico. The authorities found two women with gunshot wounds at the scene, identified as Samantha Cisneros and Taryn Allen, both 23 years old and from Texico, New Mexico. The injured child was also located and transported to a hospital for treatment.
Following the investigation, it was revealed that Cisneros is the mother of both children involved in the case, including the 10-month-old baby. An Amber Alert was issued for the missing infant, leading to her safe recovery and the subsequent arrest of Collins.
Bujanda assured the public that the FBI was prepared to expand the search if necessary but expressed gratitude that Collins was apprehended within the state. He emphasized the importance of ensuring justice for the victims and preventing further harm to the community.
