TOPEKA (KSNT) – A 28-year-old Topeka man was arrested by the Topeka Police Department (TPD) on Sunday for allegedly attempting to set Robinson Middle School on fire. The incident took place at 1125 SW 14th Street, with officers responding to a call at 5:45 p.m. on May 5.

Rosie Nichols, TPD spokeswoman, stated that upon arrival at the scene, officers found the suspect attempting to light the building on fire. The individual was promptly identified as the suspect in question and was taken into custody. He now faces charges of arson and transporting an open container of liquor, and has been placed in the Shawnee County Department of Corrections.
