Nicholas Perez : “Des Moines Man Killed in Motorcycle Crash: Tragic Accident Claims 26-Year-Old’s Life”

A tragic incident occurred in Des Moines on Friday when a 26-year-old man lost his life in a motorcycle collision.

The victim, identified as Nicholas Edward Perez, was riding a Honda dirt bike southbound on Southwest Ninth Street when he collided with the passenger side of an SUV that was crossing the street westbound at Payton Avenue, as reported by the Des Moines Police Department.

Upon receiving the call, Des Moines Police Department patrol officers and Des Moines Fire Department promptly responded to the scene of the collision around 8:15 p.m. on Friday.

Efforts to save Perez’s life began at the scene before he was rushed to a local hospital, where he tragically succumbed to his injuries.

This unfortunate incident marks the city’s fourth traffic-related fatality involving a motorcycle and the fifth traffic-related fatality of the year 2024, according to the official statement.

It was noted that Perez was not wearing a helmet at the time of the collision, as stated in the news release.

The Des Moines Police Department Traffic Unit is currently conducting a thorough technical investigation into the circumstances surrounding this tragic event.
