Authorities in West Palm Beach have released the name of a 64-year-old man who tragically lost his life in a car accident last Friday night.
The incident took place around 9:40 p.m. on eastbound Okeechobee Boulevard near Golden Lakes Boulevard. According to a witness who called 911, the man, identified as Michael Gaertner, was observed running across the street and being struck by a vehicle.
Upon further investigation, it was determined that Gaertner had dashed into the road from the north side to the south side, directly into the path of a 2023 Toyota Camry. Tragically, Gaertner was pronounced dead at the scene.
Authorities have stated that there is no indication that alcohol or drugs played a role in the accident, and as of now, no charges have been filed in connection with the incident.
The West Palm Beach Police Department is continuing to investigate the circumstances surrounding the accident to determine the exact cause of the collision.
