Accident – Death – Obituary News :

Authorities in Missouri have announced a major breakthrough in a cold case that has remained unsolved for 35 years. Thanks to new information provided by a witness, three men have been arrested and indicted on charges related to the 1989 killing of 24-year-old Kelle Ann Workman.

Douglas County authorities revealed that Bobby Banks, Leonard Banks, and Wiley Belt, all in their 60s, have been charged with first-degree murder, forcible rape, and first-degree kidnapping in connection with Workman’s death. The suspects are currently in custody on a $250,000 cash-only bond.

Workman was last seen mowing the grass at a rural cemetery in southwestern Missouri on June 30, 1989. Her body was discovered submerged in a creek over 10 miles away a week later.

Douglas County Sheriff Chris Degase expressed relief at the breakthrough, stating, “I think we’re able to give Kelle some justice and hopefully give the family some closure, knowing that these guys are not here running around and simply getting away with it.”

The Douglas County Prosecuting Attorney, Matthew Weatherman, confirmed that the information provided by the witness who came forward after nearly three decades was crucial in solving the case. Weatherman described the information as “rock-solid” and expressed confidence in the case, stating, “It’s as good as a 1989 case can ever be.”

Shana Beebe, Workman’s first cousin, shared her memories of the investigation, recalling the emotional turmoil the family experienced during the search for Kelle. Beebe described the fear and heartbreak they endured when Workman’s body was eventually found in a creek near Oldfield, Missouri.

The breakthrough in this cold case has brought some closure to Workman’s family and friends, who have waited over three decades for answers. The arrests of the three suspects have shed new light on a tragic event that has haunted the community for years.

As the investigation continues and the case heads to court, the community remains hopeful that justice will finally be served for Kelle Ann Workman.
