A 67-year-old man from Stockton tragically lost his life on Wednesday night in Huntington Beach after a fatal collision with a gray 2021 Tesla Model Y while he was walking.
The Huntington Beach police received reports of the incident near the intersection of Beach Boulevard and Williams Drive at approximately 10 p.m. Upon their arrival, officers found the victim lying in the roadway and sadly, he was pronounced dead at the scene.
The driver of the Tesla, a 33-year-old man from Huntington Beach, stayed at the scene and fully cooperated with the authorities during the investigation. It has been confirmed that impairment was not a contributing factor in the accident.
Initial findings from the investigation suggest that the Tesla was travelling southbound on Beach Boulevard in the second lane just before Williams Avenue. The pedestrian was crossing Beach at Williams Drive from west to east when the collision occurred near the intersection, placing him in the same lane as the Tesla.
The victim has been identified as Johnny Lee Davis by the Orange County Sheriff’s Department’s coroner’s office on Thursday.
