New Charges Filed in Case of Murdered Faribault Man

Arlene Bell, a 32-year-old woman, has been charged in Rice County with the theft of a vehicle belonging to the victim, Gary Lehmeyer. The victim, a 76-year-old man, was found murdered in his home in Faribault earlier this month.

Upon arriving at the scene, police discovered that the victim’s car was missing. This prompted a search for the vehicle by law enforcement agencies.

Bell was stopped by an Iowa state trooper later that day and was suspected of being under the influence of narcotics. She confessed to having taken meth a few days prior and was on her way to Texas or possibly Cancun, Mexico, in the victim’s car.

If convicted, Bell could face up to five years in prison and/or a $10,000 fine.
