The Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department has revealed the identities of the officers involved in the recent fatal shooting of a man armed with a “bladed, edged weapon” in Las Vegas, Nevada.
According to reports, the officers responded to a call regarding an armed man near Eastern and Sahara avenues at approximately 12:40 a.m. The officers attempted to de-escalate the situation using non-lethal methods, but the man refused to surrender his weapon.
As the situation escalated and the man charged towards the officers, both officers discharged their firearms, resulting in the man being fatally wounded. He was later pronounced dead at a nearby hospital.
Identified Officers
The officers involved in the incident have been named as Officer Joshua Romanski, aged 37, and Officer Paul Guerrero, aged 26. Both officers are part of the LVMPD’s East Community Policing Division, South Central Area Command, and have been serving with the department since 2022.
Following protocol, both officers have been placed on paid administrative leave while a thorough investigation into the incident is conducted by the police department.
