Jason Lee Maccani : “LA Police Shoot Man with Fork”

Los Angeles, California – Police in Los Angeles have released body-camera footage of the fatal shooting of a man who was mistakenly believed to be holding a screwdriver, when in reality he was holding a plastic fork.

Following the incident that took place on February 3 in a warehouse in downtown Los Angeles, one of the police officers involved is currently under investigation to determine whether the use of deadly force was justified, according to authorities.

The man who tragically lost his life has been identified as Jason Lee Maccani, aged 36.

The newly released footage shows a confrontation between the man and several police officers in the corridor of the building.

The man is instructed by the officers to approach them with his arms raised, and initially appears to comply with their commands.

However, he continues to move forward, his hands clenched in fists, holding the object that the officers mistakenly believed to be a screwdriver.

The police attempted to restrain him but were unsuccessful, as stated in a police report.

The video footage captures the moment when the man approaches the police and gunshots are heard.

\”The suspect grabbed one of the officers and the Beanbag Shotgun she was holding, resulting in an Officer-Involved Shooting,\” the report mentioned.

Law enforcement officers responded to the warehouse after receiving an emergency call reporting an \”assault with a deadly weapon\” at the location.

The caller alleged that the individual in question was under the influence of substances and was threatening employees with a stick.

Maccani succumbed to his injuries at a nearby hospital.

No employees in the warehouse nor any police officers sustained injuries during the incident.
