Jack Edward Cresawn, a 65-year-old resident of Pete Brittain Road in Morganton, was taken into custody by Morganton Public Safety Officers on Sunday (February 18). He faces charges of felony possession of a schedule II controlled substance (methamphetamine), as well as misdemeanours for possession of drug paraphernalia and violating an open container of alcohol law.

The arrest took place after a Public Safety Officer noticed Cresawn driving a silver Kia passenger car at 51 miles per hour in a 35 miles per hour zone on Enola Road near Pete Brittain Road. The officer pulled over the vehicle on Pete Brittain Road and discovered methamphetamine and a meth pipe during the traffic stop.

Records from the North Carolina Department Of Adult Correction Offender Public Information website reveal that Cresawn has a history of convictions in Burke County dating back to 1983. Most of his previous cases involved misdemeanours, with his latest conviction in October, 2019 being for felony possession of a schedule II controlled substance.

Following his arrest, Cresawn was taken to the Burke County Jail where he was held on a $6,000 secured bond. Although he was not listed as an inmate as of today (February 22), he had his first appearance in District Court on Monday (February 19), with his next court date scheduled for April 11.
