Accident – Death – Obituary News : Less than a fortnight after being released from jail for impersonating a medical doctor and carrying out unlicensed medical procedures, a 63-year-old man from Brea found himself back in custody, this time for attempting to establish a new Botox business, according to prosecutors.

The individual in question, Elias Renteria Segoviano, has been labelled as a fraudulent doctor who specifically targeted Spanish-speaking women, offering them unauthorised medical treatments using potentially counterfeit Botox, fillers, and other pharmaceuticals, as stated by Orange County District Attorney spokesperson Kimberly Edds.

Having pleaded guilty to numerous felonies and misdemeanours in April 2023, including 13 felony charges of unauthorised medical practice, Segoviano’s illegal activities date back to 2019 and have impacted at least 28 victims. Despite serving a sentence of one year and four months, he was released from confinement on December 22, 2023.

The latest incident involving Segoviano occurred when he attempted to secure a sublet at Phenix Salon Suites in Brea, allegedly providing two suite owners with a false identity before entering into a sublease agreement with one of them. Upon discovering his criminal history through media coverage, the suite owner promptly rescinded the agreement.

Segoviano now faces a misdemeanor charge for falsely representing himself as a licensed medical practitioner, along with two felony counts of unauthorised medical practice, according to the District Attorney’s Office. It is imperative that individuals remain vigilant and exercise caution when seeking medical services to avoid falling victim to such fraudulent activities..
