A woman was taken into custody in Costa Mesa on Wednesday after allegedly evading officers in a stolen vehicle and colliding with police cars during the pursuit, the Costa Mesa Police Department revealed.
Authorities disclosed that Costa Mesa police were summoned at approximately 12:45 p.m. to provide assistance to another agency in halting a stolen vehicle.
“The female suspect driver deliberately crashed into law enforcement vehicles as she attempted to escape,” stated a CMPD news release.
The incident unfolded when a Costa Mesa motor sergeant, who was tailing the stolen vehicle, was involved in a separate collision with another vehicle at the intersection of Harbor Boulevard and Nutmeg Place. The officer sustained minor injuries.
The wanted driver, identified as 29-year-old Destiny Sherer, was ultimately located at the nearby Costa Mesa Shopping Square. Her place of residence was not disclosed.
The exact location where the pursuit commenced was not immediately ascertainable.
