Accident – Death – Obituary News : A 52-year-old man is currently in police custody after allegedly crashing into a Weld County Sheriff’s vehicle and then refusing to exit his own vehicle for two hours. The incident took place on February 21 in Greeley, when the man attempted to enter a security gate on private property at 6 a.m.
According to a statement posted on the Weld County Sheriff’s Office Facebook page, a patrol deputy arrived at the scene and attempted to communicate with the suspect, who was driving a pickup truck. Despite multiple attempts to engage with him, the suspect refused to cooperate and instead rammed the deputy’s car with his truck. Additional law enforcement from Greeley, Evans, Millikin, and Johnstown were called to the scene to support the sheriff’s office.
The suspect, later identified as Christian Lujan, continued to resist leaving his vehicle, prompting authorities to close off surrounding roads and issue a reverse 911 notification to keep the public away from the area. After a two-hour standoff, police forcibly removed Lujan from his vehicle and took him into custody.
Lujan has been arrested on suspicion of several charges, including resisting arrest, first-degree assault on a peace officer, and criminal mischief. The incident remains under investigation as authorities work to gather more information about the events leading up to the confrontation.
