Accident – Death – Obituary News : The San Bernardino County District Attorney’s Office has officially pressed charges against a 57-year-old man in connection with the tragic hit-and-run incident that resulted in the death of a 16-year-old boy in Yucca Valley.

Troy Dean Reynolds, the accused driver identified by the sheriff’s department, stands accused of causing the death of Joshua Alexander Sanchez Barreras back in January. The incident sent shockwaves through the community, prompting swift action from law enforcement.

Following an agreement between Reynolds’ legal representation and the District Attorney’s office, the accused is set to surrender in court for booking and arraignment on the felony charges on February 27. This development marks a crucial step in the pursuit of justice for the victim and his grieving family.

The harrowing events unfolded on the evening of January 26 when Yucca Valley sheriff’s deputies came across a distressing scene on Highway 62/Twentynine Palms Highway. A teenage boy, later identified as Barreras, was found unresponsive in the center median, east of Avalon Avenue. Despite the deputies’ efforts to provide medical assistance, Barreras tragically succumbed to his injuries at Hi-Desert Medical Center.

The Morongo Basin Major Accident Investigation Team launched a thorough inquiry into the incident, uncovering vital leads that linked a white Dodge Ram truck to the scene of the tragedy. Through meticulous detective work, authorities were able to trace the vehicle back to Reynolds, a local resident of Yucca Valley, who was operating a Dodge Ram 5500 tow truck at the time of the collision.

Disturbingly, Reynolds chose not to report the collision to the authorities and instead engaged in efforts to conceal his involvement in the hit-and-run. This deliberate act of evasion only served to heighten suspicions surrounding his role in the tragic incident.

Further investigation led detectives to a body shop in Riverside County, where parts from Reynolds’ truck, consistent with the collision, were recovered shortly after the hit-and-run. Armed with this crucial evidence, the Morongo Basin sheriff’s station compiled a compelling case that was swiftly forwarded to the District Attorney’s office.

The legal proceedings have resulted in the filing of a felony complaint against Reynolds, charging him with suspected hit-and-run resulting in the death of another person. The gravity of the charges underscores the severity of the incident and the imperative need for accountability.

In light of these developments, the San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Department Morongo Basin Station has issued a plea for anyone with pertinent information to come forward. Individuals can contact the station directly at 760-366-4175 or choose to provide anonymous tips through We-Tip at 1-888-78-CRIME or wetip.com.

The pursuit of justice for Joshua Alexander Sanchez Barreras remains a top priority for law enforcement, as the community grapples with the aftermath of this senseless tragedy. As the legal proceedings unfold, the hope for closure and accountability looms large, offering a semblance of solace to the bereaved family and friends of the young victim..
