Through meticulous detective work, authorities were able to trace the vehicle back to Reynolds, a local resident of Yucca Valley, who was operating a Dodge Ram 5500 tow truck at the time of the collision.
Disturbingly, Reynolds chose not to report the collision to the authorities and instead engaged in efforts to conceal his involvement in the hit-and-run. This deliberate act of evasion only served to heighten suspicions surrounding his role in the tragic incident.
Further investigation led detectives to a body shop in Riverside County, where parts from Reynolds’ truck, consistent with the collision, were recovered shortly after the hit-and-run. Armed with this crucial evidence, the Morongo Basin sheriff’s station compiled a compelling case that was swiftly forwarded to the District Attorney’s office.
