The Broward County Sheriff’s Office has identified Sloan and her 9-year-old brother Maddox as the children involved in the heartbreaking incident.
According to reports from the scene, emergency responders received a distress call around 3:16 p.m. on Tuesday, alerting them to two children trapped in a sandhole near the 4200 block of El Mar Drive. Upon arrival, paramedics found Sloan and Maddox buried under the sand. Tragically, Sloan did not survive the ordeal, while Maddox was rescued and taken to Broward Health Medical Center for treatment. He is currently in stable condition.
