Accident – Death – Obituary News :

Connecting for Kids is proud to announce the upcoming Lorain County Resource Fair, scheduled to take place from 6-8 p.m. on March 12 at the Lorain County Community College Spitzer Conference Center in Elyria. This event aims to provide a platform for families to explore various resources and services available in the community.

New Sensory Area Added

This year, a new sensory area will be introduced at the fair, allowing attendees to take a break if needed. This addition demonstrates the organisers’ commitment to creating an inclusive and comfortable environment for all participants.

Dyslexia Screening and Academic Support

With the recent legislation mandating dyslexia screening for public school students in grades K-3, families in need of reading tutors and academic assistance will find a range of options at the fair. This initiative aims to support children identified as at-risk and provide them with the necessary resources for their educational development.

Mental Health Resources

In light of the growing concerns surrounding mental health, the fair will feature numerous resources for individuals experiencing anxiety, depression, and behavioural issues. Attendees will have the opportunity to connect with mental health professionals and explore available support services.

Developmental Disabilities Awareness

March is recognised as Developmental Disabilities Awareness Month, and the resource fair aims to raise awareness about the various providers offering assistance to individuals facing developmental challenges such as ADHD, learning disabilities, and autism spectrum disorders. With statistics showing that developmental disabilities affect one in six children aged 3-17 years, the importance of early intervention and support cannot be overstated.

Wide Range of Providers

More than 65 local providers will be present at the fair, offering services ranging from therapy and funding sources to transition services and adapted summer camps. Families with children from infants to 22 years old can explore the diverse range of options available and engage with representatives to discuss their specific needs.

Exciting Prizes and Giveaways

As an added incentive, families that pre-register and attend the in-person event will be entered into a draw to win a $100 Amazon gift card. Additionally, the first 100 families to visit the Connecting for Kids table will receive a free stuffed animal, disability awareness pin, and bookmark. For those with limited time, a grab and go bag of resources will be available for pick-up at the tent in front of the conference center.
