The shooting took place at the intersection of Vanowen Street and Ethel Avenue, just west of Coldwater Canyon Avenue. Authorities received numerous calls reporting the incident around 1:30 p.m. Responding officers found the victim, identified as Jorge Ramos, 19, from North Hollywood, lying on the sidewalk with a gunshot wound.
Despite the efforts of paramedics, Ramos was pronounced dead at the scene. The police have not yet established any leads on potential suspects in connection with the shooting.
