RICHMOND, Va. (WRIC) — Richmond police have apprehended an 18-year-old suspect in connection to a shooting incident that took place along West Broad Street, resulting in one fatality and another individual sustaining life-threatening injuries.

The suspect, identified as Aaron Marcus of Richmond, was taken into custody by officers on Tuesday, Feb. 20. He has been charged with malicious wounding and the use of a firearm in the commission of a felony. Further charges are currently under consideration by the authorities.

The tragic incident unfolded in the early hours of Sunday, Feb. 18, when law enforcement responded to a call reporting a shooting in the 300 block of West Broad Street. Upon arrival, officers discovered 31-year-old Dwight Wright of Richmond, who had suffered a gunshot wound and was found unresponsive in the street. Wright was pronounced dead at the scene.

Furthermore, police were alerted to another individual with gunshot wounds who had been transported to a nearby hospital by a private vehicle. Investigators determined that this individual was also involved in the altercation that led to the shooting on West Broad Street.
