The identity of a man found slain last week in an illegal dump site has been revealed by the Jefferson County Coroner’s Office. The victim has been identified as Marlin Dontae Yelder, a 37-year-old resident of Birmingham.

The discovery of Yelder’s body was made by a passerby around 10:17 a.m. on Thursday in the 4200 block of 48th Avenue North in the Inglenook community. He was found face down in a pile of trash in the illegal dumping site.

Sgt. LaQuitta Wade stated that a person collecting items in the area stumbled upon the body and quickly alerted authorities by calling 911. Yelder was pronounced dead at the scene at 10:36 a.m.

Initially, police were uncertain if foul play was involved in Yelder’s death. However, the coroner’s office later determined that he had been shot, confirming suspicions of a homicide. Despite ongoing investigations, no arrests have been made in connection with the case.
