Accident – Death – Obituary News : GRIFFIN — A tragic incident unfolded in Spalding County as a mother bravely attempted to save her children from a devastating house fire on Old Atlanta Road. The Spalding County Fire Department responded to a distress call at approximately 11 a.m., discovering a mobile home consumed by flames upon arrival.

The mother, identified as Madison Hope Summerville, managed to escape the inferno initially, but made the split-second decision to re-enter the burning building to rescue her three children. With heroic determination, she succeeded in helping one child to safety, while neighbours assisted in the rescue of the other two youngsters. In a display of remarkable teamwork, neighbours and firefighters administered CPR to the victims in a desperate bid to save their lives.

Tragically, Madison Hope Summerville succumbed to her injuries on the following day, leaving behind a devastated family and community. The father, Daniel Denham, was fortunately not present at the time of the fire, sparing him from the harrowing ordeal.

In the aftermath of the incident, the three children were airlifted to Grady Memorial Hospital in Atlanta for urgent medical care. Madison’s daughter, Paisley, aged 3, remained unresponsive until February 17th and continues to battle extensive injuries in the ICU. Her brothers, Thomas, aged 4, and Kayden, aged 5, sustained minor burns and smoke inhalation.

To support the grieving Denham-Summerville family during this difficult time, a benefit ride has been organised for March 30th. All proceeds and donations, including household items, clothing, and toys, will be directed towards covering medical expenses and assisting Daniel Denham in providing a new home for his children.

Participants in the benefit ride can register at Buffalo’s, located at 1421 West Taylor Street in Griffin, from 9 a.m. onwards. The event will conclude at 5055 Yatesville Highway in Thomaston at 11:30 a.m., featuring food raffles and a 50/50 raffle. The registration fee is £20 for bikes and all vehicles, with passengers charged £5 each.

This devastating incident serves as a poignant reminder of the selfless acts of courage and sacrifice that can arise in the face of adversity. The community’s outpouring of support and solidarity for the Denham-Summerville family underscores the strength and resilience of the human spirit in times of tragedy..
