The Lake County Sheriff’s Office has identified the two individuals who tragically lost their lives in a devastating crash on Highway 93 between Ronan and St. Ignatius on February 15.

The victims have been identified as Ila Griffin, aged 80, and Kathryn Griffin, aged 6, both residents of Ronan.

Lake County Sheriff Don Bell expressed his condolences to the Griffin family in a press release, stating that the head-on collision occurred at the intersection of Eagle Pass Trail involving a passenger car and a semi-truck, with Ila and Kathryn being in the passenger car.


RONAN, Mont. – A tragic accident on Highway 93N near Ronan resulted in the untimely passing of an 80-year-old woman and a 6-year-old girl on Thursday evening.

The fatal incident involved two vehicles, with one travelling southbound and the other northbound on Highway 93.

According to the Montana Highway Patrol’s report on the crash, the vehicle heading southbound lost control, veered into the northbound lane, skidded, and collided with the northbound vehicle.

The impact caused the second vehicle to come to a halt, obstructing the southbound lane.

Tragically, the 80-year-old woman and 6-year-old girl in the first vehicle were pronounced deceased at the scene.

Meanwhile, the driver of the second vehicle, a 56-year-old man, sustained injuries in the collision.
