Texas EquuSearch, a non-profit search organization, joined the search on Saturday, February 17, focusing their efforts near I-59 and the Trinity River in Livingston. The search is set to continue, with the Trinity River boat ramp off I-59 temporarily closed to aid in the investigation.
Audrii was last seen on February 15 in the 100 block of Lakeside Drive at 7 am. School officials reported that Audrii did not board the school bus or attend school that day, despite being scheduled to do so.
In a recent development, Don Steven McDougal, a 42-year-old individual who had previously babysat Audrii, was identified as a “person of interest” by the Texas Department of Public Safety. McDougal has cooperated with investigators and acknowledged leaving the house with Audrii on the day she went missing. McDougal was arrested on an unrelated charge of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon on Friday, February 16, but has not been publicly named as a suspect in Audrii’s disappearance. Authorities have also located a dark blue Chevrolet Suburban, which they have deemed a “vehicle of interest” in connection with Audrii’s disappearance.
