Accident – Death – Obituary News :

A tragic incident has unfolded in Thailand as a 24-year-old British man, Shanghaman Gowribalan from South Wales, has been confirmed dead after falling into a lake while kayaking with friends in the Rajjaprabha Dam reservoir on February 11.

Gowribalan’s body was discovered on Wednesday morning after an extensive search by rescuers and scuba divers. Reports indicate that he fell into the deepest part of the reservoir, leading to a challenging recovery operation that lasted three days.

The reservoir where the accident occurred is situated in the picturesque Khao Sok National Park. An investigation is now underway as it has been revealed that the group of tourists, including Gowribalan, did not register properly before taking the kayaks out on the water.

Investigation Underway

A spokesperson for Khao Sok National Park stated, “No registration was found for the group of tourists. It appears that they set out early in the morning without wearing life jackets. The head of the park will be looking into the circumstances surrounding this tragic incident.”

Local authorities are treating the death of Gowribalan as an accident, highlighting the importance of following safety protocols when engaging in water activities in natural reserves.

Tragic Trend

This sad event comes just weeks after another British thrill-seeker lost his life in a base jumping accident in Thailand. Nathy Odinson, a 33-year-old skydiver and base jumper, tragically perished when his parachute failed to open during a jump from a 29-storey building in Pattaya.

Police investigations revealed that the malfunction of Odinson’s parachute caused the fatal fall. The incident was witnessed by locals who called the authorities after seeing Odinson crash to the ground through a tree.

Odinson, who had a significant following on social media for his daring stunts, had extensive experience in base jumping. His tragic accident serves as a reminder of the risks involved in extreme sports.

In a similar incident last year, another British base jumper, Dylan Morris Roberts, lost his life in the Italian Alps when his parachute failed to open during a jump.

As authorities continue to investigate these incidents, it is important for adventurers to prioritise safety and adhere to proper guidelines to prevent such tragedies in the future.
