Accident – Death – Obituary News : Fairfield County Job and Family Services – Protective Services has been selected by the Public Children Services Association of Ohio (PCSAO) to implement a new shared practice model called Practice in Action Together (PACT). This innovative practice model is a crucial step in modernizing Ohio’s children services agencies, with eight county agencies, including Fairfield County Job and Family Services – Protective Services, chosen to kick-start the implementation of PACT.

Following a successful kick-off meeting with PCSAO, Fairfield County Job and Family Services – Protective Services is gearing up for on-site training scheduled for February. The implementation of the PACT model will be rolled out in stages post-training, with a family-centered approach being the cornerstone in Fairfield County. This approach places a strong emphasis on values and aims to foster positive worker/family relational outcomes. In a bid to ensure the success of this implementation, families and workers will be actively encouraged to provide feedback to the research team, playing a pivotal role in shaping and refining the model. Fairfield County Job and Family Services – Protective Services is committed to enhancing its practice by actively engaging in grants or pilot programs to deliver optimal services and support to families.

Sarah Fortner, Deputy Director of Protective Services at Fairfield County Job and Family Services – Protective Services, highlighted the core purpose of PACT, stating, “The purpose of PACT is to elevate healing and build relationships. Moving forward with this practice will strengthen our collaborative decision-making with families and our shared hope for success. Our ultimate goal is to provide the best services, support, and outcomes for the families and children we serve. My hope is that implementing this behaviour-driven approach to practice will ultimately lead to equity for our families, workers, and community.”

In other news, Fairfield County Auditor, Carri Brown, has announced important information regarding property tax adjustments for residents in the city of Lancaster. Following the approval of a 3.0 mill replacement levy for road improvements by Lancaster voters on May 2, 2023, adjustments will be reflected in the June 2024 mailing. Due to an oversight, the new rate for the replacement levy was not factored into the first-half tax bills for 2024, and the old effective rate for the former levy was inadvertently used. The updated rate for this levy will be included in the second-half tax bills due on July 18, 2024. The correction will be reflected as an adjustment, with residential properties with an appraised value of $100,000 seeing a total adjustment of about $37 for both the first and second half.

Brown assured residents, stating, “We apologise for any inconvenience this may cause. We will be communicating about this adjustment, and notices will be placed within the June bills. We will also ensure additional communication for those who pay their property tax bills in full in February.” Residents with specific questions about their property tax bills are encouraged to contact the Auditor’s office at (740) 652-7020 or (740) 652-7030.

Additionally, the Ohio Department of Development and Lancaster-Fairfield Community Action Agency are offering assistance to income-eligible Ohioans through the Low-Income Household Water Assistance Program. This program provides eligible individuals with support in paying water and wastewater bills, with applications closing on March 31, 2024. Clients are required to contact Lancaster-Fairfield Community Action Agency to apply for the program, and are requested to bring copies of their most recent water/wastewater bills, proof of income for all household members, proof of U.S. citizenship or legal residency, and proof of disability if applicable.

In conclusion, the CFLP Solid Waste District’s Policy Committee is scheduled to meet at 9 a.m. on February 23 at the Donald Hill County Administration Building in Newark. The board of directors will convene at 9:30 a.m. at the same location. Stay tuned for more updates on community events and initiatives in Fairfield County..
