KANSAS CITY, Mo. — Kansas City police have identified victims in multiple other homicides that occurred last week, amidst the aftermath of a tragic shooting at the Super Bowl rally. The city was left reeling as eight individuals lost their lives from Feb. 12-16 in Kansas City, including 43-year-old Lisa Lopez Galvan, who was tragically shot and killed at the Kansas City Chiefs parade.

Identification of Homicide Victims

On Monday, the police released the identities of four other homicide victims from the previous week. The investigations revealed that on Feb. 13, KCPD looked into two deadly shootings that took place within hours of each other.

First Shooting Incident

The initial incident occurred with a shooting outside an apartment complex near The Paseo and Meyer Boulevard just before 5 p.m. The authorities discovered a man unresponsive in the parking lot, suffering from gunshot wounds. The victim has now been identified as 45-year-old Antonio Mitchell.

A man was taken into custody at the scene by Kansas City police last week, although prosecutors have not yet announced any charges.

Second Shooting Incident

Around 7:45 p.m. on Feb. 13, law enforcement responded to a second deadly shooting near E. 16th Street and Jackson Avenue. Officers found a man shot dead inside a residence, later identified as 20-year-old Lamar Allen.

Subsequently, on Feb. 16, a social gathering in south Kansas City turned tragic with two individuals losing their lives and another sustaining injuries. The shooting occurred near Booth Avenue and Ruskin Way shortly after midnight, with one victim found in the yard and another inside a house. The victims were identified as 22-year-old Linford Garrett and 16-year-old De’Shawn Robinson.

Previous Incidents

Earlier in the week, Kansas City police had confirmed the death of 56-year-old Ruth Bowman on Feb. 12 near 50th Street and Bellefontaine. The following day, Charlie Bowman was charged with second-degree murder and other offenses in connection with her death.

Additionally, the deaths of 31-year-old Deion Lewis and 27-year-old Tyler J. Giles were reported on Feb. 12. The Kansas City Police Department stated that a non-injury crash near 39th Street and Woodland Avenue escalated into an argument and shooting, with preliminary investigations suggesting both victims were firing shots.

Super Bowl Rally Shooting

These tragic incidents occurred in the same week as the shooting at the conclusion of the Chiefs’ Super Bowl rally, which resulted in the death of Lisa Lopez Galvan. Approximately 23 individuals were shot during the rally, with about half of them being under 16 years old. Fortunately, all 11 patients at Children’s Mercy Hospital have been discharged.

Police Chief Stacey Graves explained that a dispute among several individuals led to the shooting and emphasized that there is no indication of terrorism or homegrown violent extremism based on preliminary investigations.

Legal Proceedings

Two juveniles have been charged in juvenile court for the parade shooting, facing gun-related and resisting arrest charges. The Jackson County Prosecutor’s Office mentioned that the juveniles may be charged as adults if they are certified to stand trial as adults. Their identities and ages have not been disclosed.

Overall Statistics

As of now, Kansas City has recorded 14 homicides in 2024, according to FOX4 records. The community continues to grapple with the aftermath of these tragic events as law enforcement authorities work to ensure justice is served and prevent further violence.
