James Tickner, a resident of Taylorsville, was taken into custody by the Escambia County Sheriff’s Department in Florida on Monday. He is currently awaiting extradition back to Jones County to face charges.

Tickner became a suspect in the case following an investigation by the Jones County Sheriff’s Department into the discovery of a body at a residence on Shiloh Church Road on Sunday, Feb. 18. He is wanted for first-degree murder in connection with the shooting.

The victim of the shooting has been identified as 33-year-old William Leo Busker from Laurel. The sheriff’s department has informed the next of kin.

After responding to a report of shots fired in the 300 block of Shiloh Church Road, deputies found Busker with gunshot wounds. He was unresponsive and later pronounced dead at the scene. The investigation into Busker’s death is being treated as a homicide.

The department extends its gratitude to the U.S. Marshals Service, the Smith County Sheriff’s Department, the Escambia County Sheriff’s Department in Florida, EMServ Ambulance Service, Jones County Volunteer Fire Department, and the Jones County Coroner’s Office for their assistance in the case.
