KNOX COUNTY, Ky. (WYMT) – The Knox County Sheriff, Mike Smith, recently announced the arrest of a man from Michigan on drug-related charges. The arrest took place in the early hours of Sunday morning.
According to deputies from the Knox County Sheriff’s Office, they received a tip at around 1:05 a.m. regarding a significant amount of methamphetamine, fentanyl, and heroin being transported to the Corbin area. The drugs were said to have been delivered in a grey Dodge Charger.
Acting on this information, deputies located the vehicle and conducted a traffic stop on the Cumberland Gap Parkway in Corbin. The driver of the car, identified as Demarcus Johnson, aged 29, was detained for further investigation.
Following a thorough search, law enforcement officials discovered three ounces of suspected methamphetamine and three ounces of suspected fentanyl/heroin in Johnson’s possession. As a result, he was taken into custody and charged with trafficking methamphetamine, trafficking fentanyl, and drug possession.
The Knox County Sheriff’s Office commended the swift action of their deputies in intercepting the illegal substances and apprehending the suspect. Sheriff Mike Smith emphasised the importance of community cooperation in combating drug trafficking in the region.
