KUALA TERENGGANU: A man who was on holiday with his family has gone missing and is feared drowned at the picturesque Batu Buruk beach in Kuala Terengganu.
Distress Call Received
The Kuala Terengganu Fire and Rescue Station operations commander, Yusmizan Yusof, received a distress call at 11.31am on Sunday (Feb 18) reporting that a man had disappeared at sea just 10 minutes earlier.
Identity of the Victim
The victim, identified as Zulkarnain Mohamed Zubir, aged 44 from Kuala Lumpur, is believed to have been swept away by strong currents while enjoying the beach.
Search Efforts Underway
Yusmizan Yusof mentioned that search efforts are currently ongoing to locate the missing individual. This unfortunate incident marks the first of its kind in Kuala Terengganu this year.
Public Caution Advised
Yusmizan advised the public, especially tourists, to exercise caution when partaking in water activities, especially during the monsoon season. He also highlighted the importance of paying attention to signboards displaying warnings to avoid such tragic incidents.
