Soumya Ranjan Nayak : “24-Year-Old Man Slits Throat Over Online Loss”

Angul : The issue of online gaming addiction is becoming increasingly concerning in India’s digital era. With the surge of multiplayer games and virtual communities, many individuals are finding themselves spending excessive amounts of time engrossed in virtual realms. Tragically, there have been instances where this addiction has resulted in individuals taking their own lives.

One such heartbreaking incident has recently come to light from Odisha’s Angul district, where a 24-year-old man resorted to self-harm by slashing his own throat with a blade after experiencing defeat in a mobile phone game on three occasions.

The individual in question, identified as Soumya Ranjan Nayak, is currently receiving medical care at a hospital in Cuttack, where his condition is described as severe.

The distressing incident unfolded on a Saturday in Jereng village, according to local law enforcement.

Authorities have disclosed that Soumya’s parents promptly rushed him to a government hospital in the district, from where he was subsequently transferred to SCB Medical College and Hospital in Cuttack for further treatment.
