Mumbai, 18th February: A horrifying incident of attempted murder shook the residents of Mumbai as a 30-year-old married woman was brutally stabbed by her stalker in the Prem Nagar locality of Worli. The shocking attack took place on Friday, 16th February, leaving the victim critically injured and fighting for her life.
The accused, identified as Lingappa Devendra Angarangi, aged 47, has been arrested by the police on charges of attempted murder. The victim, named Sheetal Kamble, was immediately rushed to KEM Hospital and admitted to the ICU in critical condition.
According to reports from Hindustan Times, Sheetal Kamble resides with her husband Chandrakant, who works as a painter. The accused, a resident of the same area, had been stalking Kamble for several years despite warnings from her family and husband.
Despite repeated warnings, Lingappa continued to harass Sheetal. On the fateful day, when Sheetal was alone at home, the accused forcibly entered her house and viciously stabbed her multiple times with a knife. The attack was a result of Sheetal refusing to engage with Lingappa.
Law enforcement authorities have taken swift action by arresting Lingappa and charging him with attempted murder under section 307 of the Indian Penal Code. It was also revealed that the accused had caused disturbances outside Sheetal’s residence in the past while under the influence of alcohol.
This incident serves as a grim reminder of the dangers women face due to persistent stalking and harassment. The victim’s family and the community at large are in shock over the heinous act committed by the accused.
As the investigation continues, the authorities are ensuring that justice is served and the victim receives the necessary medical care to recover from the traumatic ordeal.
