Accident – Death – Obituary News :

Authorities in Colorado Springs have identified the two victims of a fatal double shooting that occurred in the early hours of Friday morning at the University of Colorado at Colorado Springs. The victims have been named as Samuel Knopp, a 24-year-old student from Parker, and Celie Rain Montgomery, a 26-year-old non-student from Pueblo.

The incident took place just before 6 a.m. on Friday when campus police responded to reports of shots fired in a dorm room at Crestone House. The Colorado Springs Police Department confirmed the identities of the victims following autopsies conducted by the El Paso County Coroner’s Office on Saturday.

While the cause and manner of death have yet to be determined, authorities are treating the deaths of Knopp and Montgomery as homicides. Police have ruled out the possibility of a murder-suicide in this case.

According to a statement released by the Colorado Springs Police Department on Sunday, the investigation suggests that the incident was an isolated one involving individuals who were known to each other. It is believed not to be a random attack targeting the university or its students.

This tragic event marks the third and fourth homicides in Colorado Springs so far this year, doubling the city’s homicide count compared to the same period last year. Authorities are urging anyone with information or who may have witnessed the incident to come forward and assist with the ongoing investigation.
