2 Men held for running sex racket in Thane.
Mumbai: The Mumbai police has apprehended two individuals from Bangladesh for allegedly operating a sex trafficking ring in the Taloja area of Navi Mumbai, Thane. The arrests were made on Sunday following a raid on a flat in a residential complex on Saturday.
The raid was prompted by a tip-off regarding illicit activities, which was verified by an undercover officer, Sub Inspector Suresh Kurhade of Taloja police station, informed news agency PTI.
“Two suspects, identified as Samon Shaikh and Mohinoor Mandal, were taken into custody, and a 14-year-old girl from Bangladesh was rescued. A case has been filed under the Immoral Traffic (Prevention) Act,” he stated.
In a separate incident, two law enforcement officers, along with six others, have been accused of plotting to extort money from a first-year engineering student in Pune by threatening to frame him in a fabricated drug case. The incident occurred at Pune’s Symbiosis College and resulted in the extortion of ₹4.98 lakh from the 19-year-old student.
According to authorities, some of the individuals involved were known to the victim. One of the culprits allegedly planted a packet of drugs in the victim’s possession at a hotel and then alerted the two involved police officers.
