Accident – Death – Obituary News :

DAVENPORT, Fla. – A 19-year-old man from Kissimmee was taken into custody on Thursday afternoon after Florida Highway Patrol troopers discovered bags filled with marijuana in his vehicle, as per official reports.

The arrest took place when a trooper noticed a silver 4-door car with heavily tinted windows driving north on US-27 and Posner Blvd. The car had dark tinted windows and a windshield tinted below the AS-1 line, catching the attention of the trooper. The trooper then pulled over the vehicle around 12:30 p.m. and approached the driver’s side.

Upon speaking with the driver, later identified as Joan Omar Torres, the trooper detected a strong scent of fresh marijuana emanating from inside the car. Torres was asked if he possessed a medical marijuana card, to which he replied in the negative. Subsequently, both Torres and his passenger, an 18-year-old woman, were asked to exit the vehicle for further inspection.

During a pat-down, the trooper felt a bulge in Torres’ left pocket, which turned out to be marijuana. Additionally, several pieces of marijuana were found in the front driver and passenger sides of the car, along with an empty black plastic bag in the back seat emitting a similar smell.

Further search of the vehicle’s trunk revealed two grey trash bags containing black plastic bags that were vacuum sealed with an unknown substance inside. These bags contained various types of marijuana labelled as “LCG”, “MF”, “PLUTO”, “GELATTO 44”, “WHITE FUNTZ”, and “15 Gelato 3 cherry + 332 gms.” Testing confirmed the presence of more than 1% delta-9 THC in the substance, amounting to 4.75 pounds of marijuana.

Following the discovery, Torres was informed of his rights and claimed ignorance regarding the presence of the marijuana in his car, stating that the only marijuana he possessed was the one in his pocket. Additionally, it was uncovered that Torres was driving with a suspended license.

The passenger, on the other hand, denied any knowledge of the drugs’ origin or ownership after being read her rights. Authorities suspect that the marijuana was packaged for distribution, leading to Torres’ arrest and subsequent transfer to the Polk County Jail.

He now faces multiple charges, including possession of marijuana with intent to sell, possession of marijuana over 20 grams, manufacturing and delivering narcotic paraphernalia, and driving with a suspended license.
