Balangir: A 17-year-old youth, identified as Drona Adabaria, tragically took his own life on Saturday in Kanut village, Balangir district. This heartbreaking incident occurred after a gas cylinder explosion claimed the lives of four members of his family, including his mother, Malati Adabaria.
According to police sources, Drona was inconsolable and did not sleep the night following the tragic accident. He was found crying continuously inside a room before he took the drastic step of ending his own life. A relative shared, “After being informed by the villagers, a police team reached the village and recovered the body. The body was then sent for postmortem.”
The series of tragic events began on February 10 when five family members and a neighbour sustained injuries in the gas cylinder explosion. The entire community was left reeling from the devastating incident.

Sushanta Das, the Inspector-In-Charge of Belpada, stated, “Last night, Drona didn’t sleep and was crying continuously inside a room.
