Statement from CSPD on the Investigation

Following the identification of the victims, CSPD issued a statement regarding the ongoing investigation:

Throughout this investigation, our primary focus has been on seeking justice for the victims and their families in this tragic incident. The investigation is ongoing, with detectives working diligently to follow up on leads and gather information about potential suspects. At this time, we are unable to release further details about the suspects or leads due to the active nature of the case.

Based on our investigative efforts so far, it appears that this incident was isolated and involved individuals who were acquainted with each other. There is no indication of a random attack targeting the university or its students.

Our detectives are working tirelessly, and we have been deliberate in limiting the information shared with the public in the initial stages of the investigation. We have maintained close communication with the victims’ families and collaborated with the UCCS Police Department to ensure the safety of the campus community.

While we understand the challenges posed by the limited information available, we are committed to delivering justice and accountability for this heinous act. The families of the victims have requested privacy during this difficult time to grieve the loss of their loved ones, and we urge the public to respect their wishes.

— Ira Cronin, CSPD Public Relations Manager

The investigation into this tragic incident at the UCCS campus continues, with CSPD working diligently to uncover more details and bring closure to the victims’ families.
