KUALA KRAI: A tragic incident unfolded in Kuala Krai as a teenage girl was discovered drowned in the waters of Sungai Kampung Pasir Era on Saturday afternoon. The victim has been identified as 19-year-old Nurul Farisya.
The Kuala Krai Fire and Rescue Station (BBP) operations commander, Noorzaidi Mohamed, shared that the young girl’s body was found around 7pm. The authorities were alerted to the situation at 4.16pm, prompting a swift response from teams stationed at BBP Sungai Durian and BBP Machang.
According to Noorzaidi, the unfortunate incident occurred while Nurul Farisya was swimming in the river with her 13-year-old friend, Rosmaira Maisara Muhamad Azam. Tragically, Nurul Farisya lost her life in the water, while her friend miraculously survived the ordeal.
Nurul Farisya’s brother made the heartbreaking discovery of her body approximately one kilometre away from where she was last seen. The authorities have since taken custody of the victim’s remains for further investigation and necessary procedures.
