Ice cream seller sexually harasses girl.

Chennai: A 63-year-old man, who works as an ice-cream seller, was arrested on Thursday for allegedly sexually assaulting a 16-year-old girl at his shop in Mylapore. The incident took place when the girl, a Class XI student, visited his shop to purchase ice cream. The accused, identified as Madan Lal, reportedly touched her inappropriately under the guise of retrieving his mobile phone, according to a report by Times of India.

After the girl returned home, she confided in her elder sister about the incident. The siblings decided to confront the perpetrator the following evening. Madan Lal once again attempted to sexually harass the girl, prompting the sisters to defend themselves by using pepper spray and raising an alarm. The commotion attracted the attention of bystanders, who quickly intervened and contacted the police control room, as per the TOI report.

A police team swiftly arrived at the scene and apprehended the ice cream parlour owner. He has been charged under Section 354 (Sexual Harassment) of the Indian Penal Code and Section 8 of the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences Act. Following a preliminary inquiry, Madan Lal was remanded to judicial custody.
