Chandigarh has been struck by yet another tragic incident as a 48-year-old man was found brutally murdered in the bushes at Kajheri village in Sector 52 on Thursday. The victim, identified as Ramesh Kumar, had been missing for the past two days before his lifeless body was discovered. According to the police, he had been stabbed multiple times, indicating a heinous act of violence.

This incident marks the fifth murder in Chandigarh in 2024 so far, raising concerns about the safety and security of the city’s residents. The increasing number of such crimes is alarming and calls for immediate action from law enforcement authorities.

Ramesh Kumar, a resident of Palsora village in Sector 56, worked as a cook in a house in Mohali. His sudden and tragic death has left his family and friends devastated. The police were alerted to the crime scene by a passer-by who noticed the lifeless body lying in the bushes at Kajheri around 8.45 am. The police promptly arrived at the spot and rushed Ramesh to the Government Multi-Specialty Hospital in Sector 16 (GMSH-16). However, the doctors declared him dead on arrival.

Upon examining the body, the police discovered severe injury marks caused by sharp-edged weapons in the chest and abdomen areas. Additionally, three disposable glasses and an empty liquor bottle were found near the crime scene, suggesting the presence of at least two other individuals who were drinking with the victim before the murder took place.

Shockingly, Ramesh’s shoes were found near his legs, indicating that the perpetrators had dumped his body in the bushes after murdering him elsewhere. This revelation adds a disturbing layer to the case, raising questions about the motive and circumstances surrounding the crime.

Initial investigations have revealed that Ramesh had visited his sister in Kajheri on February 13. He left his sister’s house around 11 pm but never made it back to his own house in Palsora. Concerned about his sudden disappearance, his family members tried to contact him but were unsuccessful. They eventually reported his disappearance to the police, who launched a search operation.

The crime scene at Kajheri was thoroughly examined by the police, along with assistance from the CFSL (Central Forensic Science Laboratory) team. Various pieces of evidence were collected for further examination in hopes of shedding light on the identity of the assailants and the motive behind the murder.

The police have registered a murder case against unidentified individuals and are actively pursuing leads to bring the culprits to justice. The Chandigarh Police Department is working tirelessly to solve this heinous crime and ensure the safety of the city’s residents.
