Obed Beltran-Sanchez : “Teen Arrested in NYC Subway Shooting: 1 Dead, 5 Wounded”

A 16-year-old teenager was apprehended on Thursday in connection with a fatal shooting incident that occurred at a bustling subway station in New York City during rush hour earlier this week, according to an official statement released by the U.S. Marshals Service.

The teenager is one of three individuals suspected of being involved in the shooting that took place on February 13. Authorities have stated that the incident was the result of a dispute between two rival gangs who happened to board the same train at different stations.

The initial shots were fired as the train arrived at an elevated station in the Bronx, shortly before 5 p.m. The chaos then spilled onto the crowded platform as terrified passengers hurriedly fled for their safety.

Law enforcement officials later discovered a total of 19 shell casings, three of which were found inside one of the subway cars, as revealed by New York Police Department Chief of Detectives Joseph Kenny earlier this week.

Tragically, 35-year-old Obed Beltran-Sanchez lost his life after sustaining a gunshot wound to the chest. Additionally, five other individuals, ranging in age from 14 to 71, were wounded during the incident.

In a joint operation, officers from a regional fugitive task force and the New York Police Department successfully apprehended the 16-year-old suspect at approximately 11 a.m. in the Bronx. The suspect is currently in custody, awaiting formal charges.
