Bibb County deputies have made two arrests in connection with the death of Cortavius Ates. Marion Antonio Curry, 29, and Kendarrious Rayshun Cone, 30, are both in custody and facing charges related to the incident.

Marion Curry Arrested on Aggravated Assault Charges

On February 15, the Bibb County Sheriff’s Office announced the arrest of Marion Antonio Curry. Curry, a 29-year-old resident of Macon, was wanted in Bibb County for aggravated assault and was identified as a person of interest in connection with the death of Cortavius Ates.

Deputies apprehended Curry at a residence on Ollie Drive during the execution of a search warrant. He is now facing charges of murder, aggravated assault, and criminal street gang activity. Curry is currently being held without bond.

Kendarrious Cone Arrested on Murder Charges

The Bibb County Sheriff’s Office, in collaboration with multiple units including the Gang Unit, Strategic Intelligence Unit, Drug Unit, Special Response Team, and the Twiggs County Sheriff’s Office, arrested 30-year-old Kendarrious Rayshun Cone.

Cone was taken into custody in Twiggs County and subsequently transported to the Bibb County Sheriff’s Office Investigations Headquarters for further investigation. After completing the investigation, Cone was transferred to the Bibb County Law Enforcement Center.

He is facing charges of murder, aggravated assault, and conspiracy to distribute marijuana. Cone is being held without bond.

Investigation into Cortavius Ates’ Death

The Bibb County Sheriff’s Office initiated an investigation into the death of Cortavius Ates on February 12. Ates, a 25-year-old man, was found unresponsive with a gunshot wound near the intersection of Jeffersonville Road and Roseview Drive in Macon.

Authorities received a report of shots fired in the area, prompting deputies to respond to the scene. Deputy Coroner Lonnie Miley pronounced Ates dead on the scene.
