PHILADELPHIA (CBS) — Philadelphia police have identified the man accused of murdering 83-year-old Dolores Robinson as her neighbor. The suspect, 47-year-old Isaiah Rahatt, is facing multiple charges, including murder. The shocking incident occurred on Wednesday evening, when Robinson was stabbed in the neck on her front porch in the 2900 block of North 27th Street.
Robinson’s neighbors are devastated by the tragic loss. One neighbor, who wished to remain anonymous, expressed their grief, saying, “I’m going to miss her so much.” The neighbor, who had lived next to Robinson for the past 50 years, described her as not just a friend but more like family. “Very quiet, didn’t bother nobody. Just a sweet person,” they said. “All I want you to know is that she was a very sweet person, a very good neighbor, just like a sister. I have sisters and brothers, and I couldn’t find no better person than her.”
Many of Robinson’s neighbors have spoken highly of her, describing her as a nice, kind, and pleasant woman who cared for and checked on people in the community. The arrest of Rahatt in connection with her murder has left the community in shock.
According to Ernest Ransom of the Philadelphia Police Department, Rahatt lived directly next to Robinson. Ransom revealed that Rahatt followed Robinson into her home after exiting his own. A struggle ensued inside Robinson’s house, leading them back to her porch, where she was fatally stabbed in the neck. Ransom also disclosed that Robinson had been shot with a BB gun in the head and hand.
Ransom further revealed that Rahatt had a lengthy criminal history, including a 2023 arrest for aggravated assault. However, it remains unclear if there were any previous issues between Rahatt and Robinson. The police stated that they had received calls regarding issues with Rahatt from neighbors on the same block in the past, but it is uncertain if Robinson was among those who called.
Robinson’s friend expressed her disbelief and sorrow, stating that she didn’t know if there were any issues between the two. She emphasized that there was nothing Robinson could have done to deserve such a violent ending. “I just don’t know why. I don’t know why. There’s nothing I can do because she’s gone,” she lamented.
