Accident – Death – Obituary News :

A 16-year-old boy was taken into custody on Thursday in connection with the Bronx subway station gang shooting that resulted in the death of a bystander and the injury of five others, according to the police.

The teenager was apprehended after being identified as one of the three suspected triggermen involved in the Monday afternoon rush hour shooting at the Mount Eden subway stop. However, no charges have been filed against him yet.

Chance Encounter Leads to Fatal Shooting

The incident began with a “chance encounter” between rival gangs, which escalated into a fight. Three men pulled out their guns and started firing at their rivals, both on the train platform and on the street below. The NYPD Chief of Detectives Joseph Kenny revealed at a press conference on Tuesday that at least 19 shots were fired during the altercation.

Bystander Fatally Shot, Innocent Bystanders Injured

Obed Beltran-Sanchez, a 35-year-old man, was shot in the chest and tragically succumbed to his injuries at St. Barnabas Hospital. Beltran-Sanchez, an immigrant from Mexico, had been working hard to provide for his wife and children back home. Friends described him as an exceptional person who faced numerous challenges but remained a great human being.

Among the other victims were innocent bystanders, ranging in age from 14 to 71 years old. One of the injured was a 15-year-old boy who may have been the intended target of the gang members. He was shot in the thigh and right ear and is also a suspect in a prior non-fatal shooting that occurred north of the station.

Police Appeal for Suspects’ Surrender

In an effort to bring the suspects to justice, Chief of Patrol John Chell released a video titled “NYPD: Most Wanted,” urging the suspects to turn themselves in. Chell delivered a stern warning, stating that the police would go to great lengths to locate and apprehend them.

“Let us be clear. You can run, but you can’t hide,” Chell emphasized, pointing directly at the camera. “Either turn yourself in, or we will come find you in your house, in your car, or wherever you may be, and we’ll give you a one-way ticket to jail.”

Enhanced Surveillance and Intensified Manhunt

In their pursuit of justice, the NYPD released surveillance images of two of the three suspects involved in the shooting. While they identified the third suspect shortly after the incident, they are still actively seeking his arrest.

The police investigation into the Bronx subway station gang shooting is ongoing, with authorities working tirelessly to bring all those responsible to justice.
