KANAWHA COUNTY, WV – Markus Guy, a 31-year-old resident of Charleston, has chosen to waive his preliminary hearing on Thursday in relation to the alleged killing of a woman and her 14-year-old brother in Kanawha County.
According to the criminal complaint, Guy walked into the Charleston Police Department on February 7 and confessed to an officer that he had murdered Alisha Brooke Carnefix, 39, the mother of his girlfriend, as well as her younger brother, Koda Jarrett, who was just 14 years old.
Guy’s girlfriend provided investigators with crucial information, stating that he picked her up on the night of February 6 and informed her of the horrifying act he had committed. She also revealed that the vehicle they arrived at the police station in contained two pistols, one of which she believed was used to carry out the murders.
The tragic incident unfolded at a residence located along Sapphire Road, slightly outside the city limits of St. Albans.
Forensic evidence collected at the crime scene strongly indicates that both victims succumbed to fatal gunshot wounds. As a result, Guy is now facing two charges of first-degree murder.
