Elkton Woman Arrested for Theft and Tampering with Physical Evidence

ELKTON, Ky. – In a recent development, Elkton Police have taken a woman into custody on charges of theft and tampering with physical evidence. The accused, Maggie Bellamy-Beard, aged 67, was apprehended after allegations surfaced that she had stolen personal belongings following the demise of an individual she was caring for.

The incident took place at Harvest Moon Apartments, where authorities received a distress call regarding a possible death on January 29. Upon arrival, they discovered the lifeless body of the man, who reportedly succumbed to natural causes. It was later revealed that the call had been made by Bellamy-Beard, who was identified as the caretaker.

However, on February 11, family members approached the police to report missing items from the deceased man’s apartment, notably including a wallet. Prompted by this information, the authorities initiated an investigation into the matter.

During the course of their inquiries, law enforcement officials determined that Bellamy-Beard had indeed taken the items in question, allegedly after discovering the man’s lifeless body. The stolen personal belongings were considered significant evidence in the ongoing investigation.

At present, the investigation remains ongoing, with the police indicating that additional charges may be brought against the accused as new evidence emerges.
