LAKE CITY, Ga. – The Lake City Police Department swiftly responded to a distressing person shot call on the evening of February 14th at The Flats, located in the 1800 block of Harper Drive.
Upon arrival at the scene, the first responding officers were met with a grim discovery—a 44-year-old individual suffering from a gunshot wound in the parking lot. The officers wasted no time and immediately provided aid, including administering CPR, until the arrival of emergency medical personnel. Despite their best efforts, tragically, the victim succumbed to their injuries.
The authorities swiftly identified the perpetrators as two brothers, namely 18-year-old Jaquavise Woodard and 24-year-old Jaquez Woodard. Both individuals were promptly apprehended and are now facing charges in connection with this heinous incident.
According to the preliminary investigation, it is believed that the victim had engaged in a heated altercation with the Woodard brothers, who are residents of an apartment within The Flats. The confrontation rapidly escalated and spilled over into the parking lot, where multiple gunshots were fired, ultimately resulting in the fatal shooting. Law enforcement officials diligently collected evidence from the scene, including the recovery of several firearms, with a rifle suspected to be the murder weapon.
Jaquavise Woodard has been charged with murder, reckless conduct, and possession of a firearm during the commission of a crime. Likewise, Jaquez Woodard is also facing a murder charge.
