Accident – Death – Obituary News :

MANASSAS, Va. — The family of Elijah Islam Safadi, the man tragically killed in a stabbing incident at a Manassas trade school, is mourning his loss and remembering him as a hero. Witnesses at the scene have attested to Safadi’s bravery, stating that he saved lives during the attack.

The Prince William County Police have identified the individuals involved in the stabbing incident, which occurred on Tuesday at a Manassas training facility. According to the police, responding officers were forced to shoot and kill the knife-wielding assailant. The incident has left the community in shock and mourning.

Safadi’s family has expressed their grief and gratitude for his heroic actions. A small memorial has been set up outside the trade school in his honor. In a statement to WUSA9, Safadi’s aunt, Karen Montanez, described him as a hardworking electrician and a loving brother. Safadi was also expecting to become a father soon.

According to family members, Safadi was attending the trade school alongside his twin brother when the attack occurred. He bravely intervened to protect his brother and other students in the classroom. Witnesses have also reported that another student offered aid to one of the victims amidst the chaos.

The stabbing took place within a classroom at the training center. The assailant, later identified as 26-year-old Philip Austin Brant of Woodbridge, pulled out a knife from his backpack and began stabbing Safadi multiple times. Other students managed to escape from the classroom, but Brant continued his assault. He then proceeded to another classroom and stabbed another man.

Tragically, Safadi succumbed to his injuries, while the second victim, a 23-year-old man from Fairfax, remains in critical condition at a local hospital.

The motive behind the attack is still under investigation. Prince William County Police officers initially encountered Brant outside the building, where they instructed him to drop the knife. When Brant disregarded their commands and moved towards the officers, they were forced to open fire, resulting in his death.

As the investigation continues, the two officers involved in the shooting have been placed on administrative leave. The Prince William County Police Department’s Critical Incident Response (CIRT) team is leading the investigation.

Police are urging anyone with information related to the incident to come forward and contact the Prince William County Police Department tipline at 703-792-7000.

The Safadi family is preparing to lay Elijah Islam Safadi to rest on Thursday. The community has rallied around them, offering support and condolences during this difficult time.
