CHEROKEE COUNTY, Texas (KLTV) – Tragedy struck on Valentine’s Day in Cherokee County, Texas, as one teenager lost his life and another individual remains in critical condition following an overnight shooting incident.
Sheriff Brent Dickson of Cherokee County reported that deputies promptly responded to an ongoing shooting incident at approximately 10:04 p.m. on CR 1084. Upon their arrival, law enforcement officers discovered a severely injured 17-year-old male from Jacksonville, who was later identified as the victim. He was quickly transported to a nearby medical center for urgent medical attention. Despite the efforts of medical personnel, tragically, the young teenager succumbed to his gunshot wounds and was pronounced dead. Meanwhile, a second male involved in the shooting was privately transported to a hospital, and due to the severity of his injuries, he was airlifted to a Tyler hospital where he remains in critical condition.
Further investigation conducted by authorities revealed that the fatal shooting occurred as a result of an intense argument between the two individuals, as stated by Sheriff Dickson.
