(WFRV) – Authorities in Florida apprehended a Wisconsin man who had been wanted by federal authorities on charges of kidnapping a 13-year-old girl in South Carolina, according to reports.
The Monroe County Sheriff’s Office in Florida shared on their official Facebook page that a 35-year-old Wisconsin man, identified as Tyler Berlick, was arrested in a Key Largo parking lot on February 13. The arrest came after federal authorities issued a warrant for Berlick’s alleged involvement in the kidnapping case.
Having received intelligence that Berlick might be heading towards Monroe County, Florida, law enforcement agencies intensified their efforts to locate and apprehend him.
Presently, Berlick is listed on the jail log in Monroe County, Florida, and is believed to be a resident of Mukwonago, Wisconsin.
The arrest was made when Berlick and the 13-year-old girl were found together inside a Dodge Ram pickup truck parked at a shopping center in the early hours of the morning at approximately 3:30 a.m.
The Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) is leading the investigation into this distressing case, although no further details have been disclosed at this time.
