Palghar, February 14 (PTI) – The Palghar district police in Maharashtra have registered a case against a man from Vasai for allegedly clobbering his woman relative to death with a wooden rod over a dispute, according to an official statement released on Wednesday.

The incident took place on Monday at around 9:30 pm in the Kaman locality of Vasai, the official added.

The victim, identified as Manjula Kolha, a 55-year-old tribal woman, was attacked by Sagar Bendga, her distant relative, as reported by the police.

Investigation Reveals Frequent Arguments and Complaints

The police investigation revealed that Bendga used to frequently visit the victim’s house and engage in quarrels with her over trivial matters, stated Senior Inspector Ramesh Bhame of Naigaon police station.

According to the senior inspector, the situation escalated after the victim complained to her daughter about Bendga’s behavior. Upon learning about the complaint, Bendga confronted the victim at her residence on Monday night. The confrontation turned into a heated argument, leading Bendga to pick up a wooden rod and attack the woman.

During the incident, the victim’s husband tried to intervene, but Bendga also assaulted him, added Bhame.

Tragic Outcome and Legal Action

Due to the severity of the attack, the woman tragically lost her life. The police subsequently sent the victim’s body to a government hospital for post-mortem examination.

In response to the incident, the police have registered an offence against Sagar Bendga under the Indian Penal Code (IPC) sections 302 (murder), 452 (house-trespass), and 506 (criminal intimidation).
